Maybe the F-5 was more of a tribute or a "Please come back.", kind of gesture then (if Lesnar is not already under contract)?
I thought the PPV was overall really good. Rene Dupree & Kenzo vs. Myserio & RVD was a fantastic match, IMO. It could have been better, but I think given another tag team to feud with, RVD-619 and Rene & Kenzo can have a great tag team feud.
I agree with Gohan3k, switching the titles on SmackDown! was meaningless, and would have made much better sense at the PPV. I can't remember the last time the WWE Tag Team Championship did actually get swapped on PPV.
Kurt Angle vs. Santa Claus could have really great, if Santa turned out to kick ass and then have the medals to some kid (maybe a sick kid or something). I don't know if Angle would be willing to give his medal away, but it would be an awesome gesture if he gave it to some kid for Christmas. Maybe Santa could have been a developemental wrestler who was called up. Him winning and giving the medal to charity would have been the ultimate rub.
The Dixie Dogfight was good, but mainly because Mizanin held his own, and came so close to winning in the fans' eyes. I don't think Puder did himself any favours by emphasising Ultimate Fighting during his after match promo.
The Bashams vs. Holly & Haas was interesting. The two faces/tweeners could be great in a tag team, and it will be interesting to see how they get along. It seems Holly is the "tutor" to Haas. I know this may not be in good taste, and I don't mean it disrespectfully, but it could have been impactful if Hardcore pointed to Charlie's wristbands with "RUSS" written on them, and asked Charlie what Russ would think of Charlie losing matches because of some women distracting him.
I will be interested to see what happens with Holly & Haas now. Hardcore has a relationship with Jackie, as he trained her (I think), and Haas has just broken her heart. I can see Holly bringing Jackie in as their valet now, just to piss Charlie off. I am looking forward to see how Dawn Marie will react to Charlie, and to see if they play a "schemeing" ex's gimmick. I hate it when they have Divas have these little feuds, some of them actually major (like Dawn "killing" Torrie's dad), then a few weeks later they are friends and having photoshoots together. I hope there is a bit more fluency with this angle. Maybe The Dudleys will come back as Dawn's avengers? Hardcore Holly & Charlie Haas vs. The Dudleys at the Royal Rumble, No Way Out or WrestleMania 21?
I don't like the way Cena squashed Jesus, as I like Aaron Aguilera, and I don't think he and Carlito have gotten a fair go in recent months (with injuries and all). It would have been better if they had the commentators focus on how Jesus had a torn groin, and how he expected to come in here for a clean and easy face to face fight, but since Cena's attacked him from behind, Jesus has been helpless. Carlito & Jesus could be good in the tag division, and I think it needs repair, so maybe that's where they'll go when they're ready to return.
Just a random thought, does anyone like the idea of each wrestler getting their own plate for the WWE United States Championship? Maybe a different coloured strap as well? It would be nice to see Kidman with a "Shooting Star" themed belt that goes with his ring jacket. Then along the sides of the belt you can have all your previous incarnations of the championship plates as sort of a reminder of the history this wrestler now carries.
Funaki as champ=ratings. Not literally, but still. I actually laughed at his little joke. "Armageddon your Cruiserweight Championship!". There's something about that little guy that's......cute. Was anyone else laughing when Funaki climbed to the top rope just before hitting his double stomp tree of woe type move on Spike? Jimmy Cordares was putting on this harsh voice telling Funaki "No!". I would have enjoyed the experience more if Funaki had almost squashed Spike. Not like your regular squash, but basically have him be too much for Spike to handle. Have all the spots that happened in the match and more, but with Funaki really pulling out some big moves and making us realise he's not a joke. I wouldn't have had that rest hold either. Keep it short and sweet with Funaki winning cleanly with The Rising Sun.
The main event was surprisingly good, and I loved the interaction between The Cabinet and JBL before the match. I would have marked out if The Cabinet came down to ringside to congradulate JBL, but then out comes Theodore R. Long and tells us that he said The Cabinet weren't to be at ringside with JBL tonight. Period. Then he strips JBL of the Championship and announces either a Triple Threat Match or a tournament on to be held (or commence) on this week's SmackDown!.
I think we'll see JBL vs. The Big Show at the Rumble, which will be extremely entertaining, IMO.
