the face in acid is a bit far fetched, why not have him lick a battery but at the same time have the wind change direction (as the old saying goes if the wind changes you'll stay like that). so he now looks a bit goofy so decides to wear a mask and as his tounge hurts from the licking of battery he reverts to using the voice box again!
