Here are some things we have not seen in the Rumble for a long time, that I miss and think could be brought back.
-A heel winner. It seems the face needs to win, then go on to win the belt. It is so predictable and stale.
-A deflected winner. It seems there always seems to be a Rumble winner who wins the title at Mania. Why not have a stronger champion?
-An unpredictable winner. If you could not predict Triple H, Brock Lesnar or Chris Benoit, you have problems. Cena, Orton or Batista seem to be a lock, and although Orton's chances have detracted, and although it is less clear-cut this year, I won't be surprised if any of them win.
-A mulit-time winner. Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin are three of the biggest stars in the WWE's history, and they have all won the Rumble at least once, and to my understanding, each one was a former World Champion BEFORE they won the match. I personally would be pleasantly surprised and satisfied if Chris Benoit won back to back Royal Rumbles. Benoit vs. Jericho at WrestleMania 21? Most people would say no, but I would say yes. Maybe add Eddie Guerrero in there after a trade (Shawn Michaels can go over to Smackers and feud with Kurt Angle).
Chris Jericho (who wins the third EC at NYR, the first-ever WWE Undisputed Champion) vs. Chris Benoit (2004 Royal Rumble winner, 2005 Royal Rumble winner, former World Heavyweight Champion of about five months, won the title in a Main Event Triple Threat at WrestleMania XX) vs. Eddie Guerrero (former WWE Champion of about four months, won a sort of "unofficial" Royal Rumble last year on the SD! after the 2004 Royal Rumble). Hell, why not add Edge? Then have Triple H vs. Batista vs. Randy Orton, Muhammad Hassan vs. The Rock, Shelton Benjamin vs. Maven and hopefully Ric Flair vs. Mick Foley as the RAW supporting card.
