I think adding more depth to Batista can only be a good thing, and I've been thinking of ways for months to do this. Here are some ideas I've tossed around before:

Ric Flair and Respect
Say Batista wins the Royal Rumble, this leads to Triple H not ebing too happy with Dave. He tries to talk Batista into laying down (there is no other way out of the match). Triple H can cut promos that make his way sound the most beneficial, so I can really see Triple H bringing Orton into it, and how he now has nothing, not because he isn't talented, but because he jumped the gun.

Basically for weeks you see wrestlers telling Batista to kick Triple H's ass, and how it is the Mania main event and he shouldn't lay down. This all seems to go in one ear and out the other, but on the night of Mania, where Batista is leaning towards jobbing (but we all know he won't), Ric Flair comes into his lockerroom, and tells Batista that no matter how good Triple H is, no matter how powerful Evolution is, for the World Heavyweight Championship in the WrestleMania main event, Batista CANNOT lay down. Maybe go as far as to have Batista get tears in his eyes while Flair is motivating him. Batista goes out, beats Triple H decisively, and walks away with the World Heavyweight Championship.

The next night Triple H tries to get Flair on his side against Batista, but Flair says no and joins Batista. You then have a very strong relationship between Batista and Flair break out. It is so strong tot he point where Batista will fight through 20 guys to help Flair. Base it on respect, and maybe have Flair walk down tot he ring with the World Heavyweight Championship, something Triple H didn't let Flair do.

Batista's Wife
Have it revealed Batista is very much in love with his wife. Basically have Triple H use her against him. Have him pay her to divorce Batista, or have Triple H make a tape of them in the act, and have him show it on RAW.

It sounds a lot like the Katie Vick storyline, but with a real character that can actually talk and is not currently.......dead, it could work out. Something to remember that Batista isn't a monster as such. He's a dominant man, who is able to be hurt. The easiest way to hurt a man like Batista is his emotions. Don't turn him down in the ring (in face tone him up), but have Triple H really play mind games with him.

You could even get to the stage where they backfire on Triple H. Or you can have Batista so some brutal things. Have it revealed that Triple H's mother "fell" down the stairs of her house, and now can't get out of bed. This whole scenario probably sounds really cheesy, but the way I'm picturing has it use these situations to "fuel" Dave Batista in the ring, making him more dangerous.

Disciples of Synn
Have Batista's past the The Demon of the Deep come back to haunt him. Have Kevin Fertig sit in the crowd during one of his matches, have Synn appear backstage as a make-up woman. Have Tyson Tomko smile at Baista when he walks past. At first it would seem like nothing, but as it starts building up, Batista gets darker and darker. He starts getting DQ'd, he starts destroying people after matches. He starts rampaging around the ring when his opponent is down, as if to say "Don't come any closer!".

Maybe have Batista come out with new attire, chains wrapped around his wrists, etc. Just have all this make a few changes to Batista, then finally Tomko and Fertig attack him, and have them reveal they've found a new Leviathan.......Kane! You have Kane's version of the Ministry right there and ready to go.
