I've never been a big fan of Orton's character, heel or face. I never saw what the allure of the "Legend Killer" gimmick was; a cheap-heat angle (stuck-up prick beats up respected legend) stretched out into an entire character. Oooooh, and he's "cocky!" Aren't all heels by their very nature "cocky?" Hell, even Raven and the Undertaker had inflated egos. I always find it funny that people hate guys who act like total dick-heads in real life, but then wet their pants over fictional characters who do the same thing. The fact that they jobbed out two of my all-time favorite wrestlers 100% clean, with no resolution whatsoever to either angle, when Orton was supposed to be the guy the crowd booed, doesn't help my opinion much.

Orton's face run was/is a total failure, mostly due to the fact that the "renegade face" thing has been played out so many times. Unless you're as talented as Austin used to be or as charismatic as the Rock, it's hard to get the fans behind you when they were chanting "asshole" at you three weeks earlier.

All that being said, though I don't like Orton the character, I do like Orton the wrestler. Granted, he's not exactly the Dynamite Kid in the ring, but he's no Bradshaw either. He's got a great look, and natural charisma (not that you could tell by his promos) That, and I'm generally pre-disposed to root for whoever's going against Hunter (hell, you could cart out A-Train and Kevin Nash and the freakin Gobbledy Gooker, and I'd be cheering just as long as H loses)

So yeah, I'm a little more negative here than positive, but I won't go as far as to say he's worthless.

(this coming from the guy whose title used to be "Legend Killer Killer")
