I would let him back. To answer your questions, I would put him on SmackDown! only because they need big names. They could have him return on RAW, though, and jump to SmackDown! through a technicality that when he left he was with SmackDown!. No, I wouldn't punish him, and no, I wouldn't make him climb back to the main event. Why? Because he's already very established.

If he weren't as big as he was when he left, I would say yes, he'd have to start in the midcard. But he left at the top of the mountain, so there's no way that they can have him return without being in the main event, AT LEAST for a while. They could knock him down a few rungs after the redebut feud, but in my opinion, he'd have to come back as a big surprise type thing, and feud with someone for a while.

I'd love to see Batista vs. Lesnar as well, no matter how shitty it is. It couldn't be more shitty than Brock/Goldberg, so I have my hopes. After Triple H and Batista split, Trips can bring in Brock as the third member of Evolution, and he can feud with Batista.
