My PC has been fine until today, I installed a new graphics card (GeForce 6600GT 128mb) but to get the old one out and this one in, I had to unplug the CPU fan cable, since it goes all the way down to one of the PCI slots, where the fan speed control thing is.

Anyway, I did that, put the graphics card in, and forgot to plug the CPU fan back in, and had my PC on for about an hour to an hour and a half, when the PC froze and wouldn't boot up for a few mins (similar to the way in which it did when I posted this topic) but the problem was obvious this time. After a few minutes the PC booted up, and I made sure I had the CPU fan running again, and all was well.

I just installed Unreal Tournament 2004, and the graphics don't look too good on it (the Nvidia startup screen, havent tried the full game yet) and so I went to set all my options and stuff, and the PC blanks out like it did a couple weeks ago, and the system speaker makes loads of rapid beeps. Started the PC up again, and everything is going fine again. I checked my CPU temp, and it's at 45-50C with a 4000ish RPM speed on the fan.

I'm thinking the CPU may be the problem here, or possibly the motherboard or the ram, or the graphics card. I'm now pretty much convinced I have no problems with my hard drive(s), and that the problem lies with one of the aforementioned components.

Anyone got any ideas? I think i've already had enough PC troubles to last me for all of 2005.
