I just seen this movie literally 2 minutes ago. I managed to go this whole time without having the movie spoiled for me.
This movie was borderline brilliant. I say borderline because theres were a couple things i didnt think should or could happen. First let me start by saying , at the beginning when Zeb first showed his face. I literally sat there and said this is bullshit. I thought for sure he was the guy. He was the mastermind. I was somewhat pissed but decided to let the movie play out.
Once the actual "Sawing" began i had a " CUT THAT MEAT" moment. Though i also was pissed cause if he would have turned over that box he would have reached the phone and he wouldnt have had to do all that junk. Ofcourse little did i know, it didnt matter because of the ending.
The ending could only be compared to busting your load in the hottest blonde in the worlds face. The movie was so well excuted that i literally went from being pissed off cause i thought i knew what was going on. To jumping off my couch and screaming " Holy shit! Holy shit!". The ending wrapped up all the loose ends in one climatic scene where the true mastermind revealed himself was one of the best 5 minute scenes in a suspense movie i have ever seen.
As for the acting. I didnt have a problem with the guy who played Adam. There was a few times where i thought he could have delivered a line a litte better but overall he was decent. The guy who played the Dr. was down right horrible. I dont know if it was the bad accent he was trying to carry or not. But i just couldnt get into this guy. I honestly think it was probably that horrible rich guppy somewhat foriegn accent he was trying to deliver when he was saying his lines , that threw him off. If this guy didnt have to use that accent and he was just a regular good'ole american doctor, I think he would have been fine. I kept thinking to myself " Man if Morgan Freeman was playing the ex-cop role instead of Danny Glover, this movie would kick even more ass" but obviously you cant change things now.
Overall despite questionable acting and casting. This movie was broderline brilliant and totally worth 8.50 to see at the theatre or the 19.99 to buy from the video store. Renting it does no justice in my opinion. You have to have this movie in your collection.
I'm curious. Who wrote the script for this movie. Who directed it and did either of them get nominated for anything ?
