He's probably saying it because it's hard as a relatively new actor to come to terms with the fact that it's not them who's kissing another person. It's a part of the character. Even relatively good actors hate it because they get that feeling that kissing another person may think that they might have the hots for them.
The same can be said for hitting people with steal chairs. When you first do it, it's hard because you dont want to hurt the other person. However, because the Rock's had more experience with chairs than kissing, thats the most logical reason he said that.
