Yes... great genius thinking at Sega. Did they ever think that the reason side scrolling beat em ups went out of style because other developers couldn't top SoR3 or even Final Fight 3? Or the fact that Fighting Force failed to catch on because it licked balls?
If you ask me personally, beat em ups were meant for 2-D. There's not a whole lot of good 3-D ones, I think they try to add too much at one time. Yet games like SoR, Final Fight, the X-men arcade game, the Spider-man games on SNES, etc. are still great games. Complexity doesn't always = more fun (The Bouncer). Of course, I still think Square should of made a sequel to Bouncer, it had good qualities that could of been expanded on.[/rant]
But yeah, we need a new SoR.
