I know that a lot of really great movies were made before 1950, but you have to wonder if a lot of those movies wind up on those lists because it makes the critics look "cultured."

And even then, they left off one of the all-time great films (let alone one of the greats of the pre-1950 years) in "Gone With The Wind."
