Mariah Carey is number 1 in the American charts isn't she? Is that really so much better than having a novelty record being there?
It's probably reached number 1 with hardly any airplay on radio, just fucking adverts all the time. Like ECG says, the chart reflects the taste of pre to early teen girls, so there's no point in being ashamed or anything unless you bought it, in which case you should be shot.
