I too have many fond memories of ECW. I still regularly wear my "Our big boys kick ass!!!" T-shirt, and even though my surgeon generals warning T-shirt has a hole in hit, I still have it hanging in my closet for nostalgic value. I have my tapes of ECW's first 10 PPV's, along with 4 other tapes of their weekly Friday show on TNN. All of which I wouldn't give up for anything.
However, I don't have a problem with casual fans finally jumping on the ECW bandwagon. Do I wish it would of happened when the company was still around? Sure. But I'm happy to see the name finally gain some measure of respect with the mainstream wrestling fans. Will it change anything if they now realize how great a promotion it was, and they go back and try to buy as many tapes or dvd's as they can? No. But perhaps it will do something to secure ECW's legacy in the wrestling business.
Either way, I will also be watching the PPV this weekend, and I too hope it succeeds. Not for Vince's sake, but for guys like Paul Heyman and Tommy Dreamer so they may finally get some respect in a WWE crowd.
