I'd say the firing definiately had a great amount of influence from Jason Kidd and other players on the team.
This is what pro sports has come down to. General Managers are underminding their coaches and making them look like fools, and when a absolute standout player bitches about his coach long enough, the coach gets fired.
Just think, years from now when LeBrown James is the shit, and his coach yells at him to play defense after he makes a nice dunk, he can bitch, bitch, bitch, and get his coach fired.
