Vince likes to capitalize on controversy. Being fired from CNBC (?) for goose-stepping in Germany warranted a main-event push in Vince's eyes.

Plus, it doesn't hurt that he has been with the company forever, is an asshole to the "new guys," and is friends with the Undertaker.
