As for the others you listed.
Nomar didn't leave, he was traded and a trade that helped the sox win a WS and since he's been injured.
Clemens left, and then has had stats that blew away the last couple years he had with the Sox. Would he have been that motivated if he stayed in Boston?
Greenwell? What did he do after Boston?
Mo Vaughn, yeah, he claimed "It's not about the money" they signed for the biggest check, put on 100lbs and got injured and is now a tax/insurance write-off for the Mets.
So, the latest rumor is a 3way deal. Manny goes to the Mets, the Red Sox get Cameron and 2 prospects (Tampa Bay is the 3rd team).
If this is true, it sucks for this year, clearly Camerons bat is nothing like Manny's. However 2 prosspects and more importantly 20mil a year free that allows to re-sign Damon and go after a decent LF.
