No Mercy- World Heavyweight Championship
Batista is still Champion and Kane and Brock Lesnar have been injected into the main event scene. This is the foundation to the main event of No Mercy.
Theodore R. Long announces a tournament to decide Batista's opponent at No Mercy. The first-round matches are as follows:
Eddie Guerrero vs. Booker T
Kane vs. JBL
Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker
Randy Orton vs. Chris Benoit
Eddie Guerrero defeats Booker T via disqualification when Rey Mysterio (back from suspension) interferes. Michael Cole & Tazz muse over why Rey would help Eddie pick up the DQ win instead of costing him the match. This is answered by Kane squashing JBL in the next match, as in the next round, Eddie has the punishment of facing Kane. Lesnar defeats The Undertaker via pinfall, and Randy Orton defeats Benoit with help from Christian who is pissed of because he is not in the tournament.
In the second round, Kane defeats Eddie Guerrero and Lesnar defeats Randy Orton. In the finals, Kane and Lesnar don't reach a decision in their match. Kane can't beat Lesnar, as he keeps kicking out everything (Tombstones, Chokeslams through announce tables) and Lesnar can't beat Kane. Kane even sits up after an F-5 off the top rope. Eventually the matches ends with Kane sitting up, and Lesnar on the mat looking at Kane. Both guys seem shocked by what the other is taking. The referee is still counting to ten, but neither Kane nor Lesnar moves. Eventually the referee counts them both out, and we don't get a winner.
Batista runs out and Demon Bombs both guys, and says he will take them both on at No Mercy. Batista calls it his first "real challenge". The climax of the No Mercy Triple Threat sees Lesnar F-5 Kane out of the ring, before taking a Demon Buster and Demon Bomb for the pinfall. Batista successfully defends the World Heavyweight Title again.
No Mercy- Hell in a Cell
Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero's problems have escalated. Both Rey and Eddie's families are in ruin, and they still haven't reached a climax to their feud. Teddy Long says if Eddie and Rey won't end it, he will. At No Mercy, Eddie/Rey in a Hell in a Cell Match! Both guys sell the match really well. Both men secretly don't want this match, because they don't like the risks, and they still don't really hate each other enough to end their careers, even through all this personal torment. Both men cut tough promos on each other saying they have nothing to lose. They say stuff like "Who will cry at out graves? Our family? We've destroyed our familia!".
Teddy Long agrees to call off the match if Eddie and Rey both sit down and agree to it. Both Eddie and Rey's pride won't let up though, so the SD! before the match is scheduled we see Rey standing in the ring calling out Eddie. Michael Cole and Tazz talk about whether or not Rey and Eddie will settle their differences. Rey knows Eddie won't want to quit, he hasn't quit anything in his life, except for his relationship with Rey. Rey also doesn't trust Eddie to leave his family alone by choice.
Rey then cuts a heart-filled promo where he calls out Eddie to the ring. He then talks about how if they go through with this match, and finally find out who the better man is, their families will never recover. After the Hell in a Cell, all they will have is their careers, and it's likely that they won't even have that after the match, either. Rey then says he hates Eddie more than anyone else in the world right now, but he actually feels closer to him than he feels to anyone else right now. When you're best friend is your worst enemy, maybe that's enough reason to enter Hell in a Cell? The whole promo Eddie just look up at the lights, side to Rey, nodding and tilting his head when Rey says somethng. When Rey talks about justifcation for entering the match, Eddie turns to Rey and this time looks roughly in his direction. Rey then takes a few steps towards Eddie and says "Eddie, let's just agree, that Sunday, we'll show each other No Mercy.", Rey then extends his hand towards Eddie. Eddie shakes, and then they let go, have a staredown while the No Mercy theme plays, before Eddie walks to the back.
I don't know how it sounds written there, but in my head it plays out to be real emotion and upsetting that these men have taken each other to the point where their personal lives and professional lives are no longer worth living.
The actualy match itself is the first Hell in a Cell produced by SmackDown! in three years. It is also the first time in Hell in a Cell history (Well, I'm pretty sure it is), since Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker (the first-ever Hell in a Cell) that all the participants have never been in a previous Hell in a Cell.
The match is basically what you'd expect from Eddie vs. Rey. Greatness. They use ladders, chairs, tables the Cell, and they eventually go outside the Cell, and end up on top. They also tell a pretty good story in the match, too. There are parts where Rey is busted on the ground, crawling aroudn screaming in agony, even crying. Eddie then hesitates before hitting Rey and screams in rage that he's in here with Rey, before kicking the crap out of him and telling him to shut up. When they climb on top of the Cell, Eddie gets to the point where he's holding Rey up in the air in a military press. He look down at the announce table but then hesitates giving Rey a chance to get out. The match can go either way, but it might be a smart move to give Rey Mysterio the win here.
There's the other stuff for No Mercy, but I've gone and posted something long again, so I'll do that later.
