There's a huge difference on all counts.

First, Goldberg was right about the WWE being a mistake. They turned him into a glorified jobber. Depending on what you read, this happened because of his shit attitiude backstage or because he couldn't work a 'WWE style.' But whatever. He has said several times he would go back into wrestling, just not for the WWE. The shoot comments he made on Trips alone almost makes me like him. Almost. Brock was tired of the entire industry of wrestling and called it a joke. On this point, i can see why fans hate him.

Secondly, brock Lesnar was way ahead of Goldberg in the ring. GB just had not improved much in his five plus years in the ring, where Lesnar was a legit wrestler who was good, especially if you consider how green he still was. Based on his amateur background alone, the best years of Brock were still ti come.

Finally, I think your whole oint is invalid because the fans want Lesnar back, but there's a huge group of fans that want Goldberg back, too. He's still bankable. And if some upstart fed like TNA signed him to a contract he would immediately becomethe biggest draw outside the WWE.
