I think you needed a centre back more than a striker. Luque isn't the most out and out forward, but with the number of midfielders you've got, he should've been signed as a forward, and then spent the 16 or 17 million you've just spent on a player, who was valued about £5 million cheaper for the record, on getting a few decent defenders in.
As I said, the mentality of "we'll score way more than we let in" rarely works.
If Souness is still your manager in January, I'll be shocked.
