Eugene wouldn't work today. It would be seen as insensitive and tasteless (rightfully so). It was, ugh, a "necessary evil" (what does that say about the WWE?) in 2004 or whenever he came up, because a real rassler gimmick wouldn't have worked. It's a shame they didn't turn him on the ECW show in 2006 and have him "shoot" on how WWE made him play a "retard," when he's really one of the best technical wrestlers in the world today. Could have been a fun act on that rebooted show (had they insisted on doing it).

Dinsmore, coming along today, probably would have been tearing it up in the indies as a "wrestling genius," had some good stuff going for him in ROH, EVOLVE and New Japan -- stretching out guys like Zack Sabre, Jr. Then NXT would have signed him to be a player/coach for a while and see if the smarks ate him up. Then he'd either get a push towards the NXT Title or moved to the main roster and then either forgotten about on SmackDown or slum it on Raw like any of the indy guys are currently doing.
