Considering last week was against the Home Run Derby and this week came off a PPV, you would have expected a bigger increase, but the ratings pattern was extremely strong for the episode itself. The first hour was surprisingly low, but there was a big increase in hour two, and while hour three dropped, it was still ahead of one hour, which almost never happens ...

If not for the weak first hour the overall gain would have been substantial.

The three hours were:

8 p.m. 2.38 million viewers
9 p.m. 2.50 million viewers
10 p.m. 2.48 million viewers

We've reached out to several names within the company, including one that hadn't even heard that the team had re-signed in the days following the deal. That same name was sure that they'd be gone just a week or two prior when we spoke with them, and noted that New Japan Pro Wrestling and other companies had already showed interest.

The feeling that we got from wrestlers we spoke to wasn't one of optimism, but rather one of saying they couldn't really fault Gallows and Anderson for setting themselves up for the future. One wrestler said "more confident in this company than I am. I wouldn’t hold my breath as far as tag teams getting an opportunity."

Both Gallows and Anderson seem well liked based on the names that we spoke to, with one backstage employee particularly putting over their work in the gym, despite the fact that they weren't being booked.

“It won’t be that long. It’s coming. It’s coming and we’re working on it. There will definitely be an announcement soon and I would say before -- we’ve got a lot to do before All Out, but we’ve also got some time before All Out to build some stories -- build up the Chris Jericho/Hangman title match, build up Kenny Omega versus Jon Moxley and build up Cody Rhodes versus Shawn Spears and build up more of the big matches that we have planned. So I think, I would say, well before All Out and I can’t give an exact date but certainly, it’ll be before All Out but we’re really focusing on getting to All Out and along the way, I’ll definitely have more information.” He said.

There was a push from the prosecution for Nord to face prison time, but it was argued he would need to be in an assisted-living facility for the rest of his life. As part of the probation agreement, Nord is not allowed to drive and will return to court in three months to update the judge on his condition.

Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that this was not a call by New Japan but from outside forces. There has been a lot of support for Charlton because he has become a popular member of New Japan’s broadcast team through encyclopedic knowledge of Japanese professional wrestling, ability to recall backstories on the fly, and also pick up on the significance of a maneuver that may have some historical significance that tells a deeper story. He was not part of Monday’s show in Hokkaido but also wasn’t scheduled to be at all the G1 events this summer.

Fightful Select has learned that Spears will be getting a manager, a fact that is slated to come to light officially on this week's episode of "Road To." We don't know the identity of the manager, or even if they'll be revealed.

Before nicknaming himself "The Chairman," Spears attacked his former friend Rhodes with a steel chair at AEW's Fyter Fest, with a tweet later implying that he didn't appreciate Cody's comment that he was a "good hand." The two are slated to do battle on August 31 at All Elite Wrestling's "All Out" at the Sears Centre near Chicago.
