My Top 10 Alice In Chains songs of All Time

Greatest band of all time when Layne Staley was alive. Here we go.

10.) Frogs- Unplugged version

9.) Heaven Besides You- Self Titled- This song is a lot deeper than it sounds. It's kind of answer to some great STP songs.

8.) Rotten Apple - Jar of Flies- This is the first of a few of this album because it's my favorite album of all time. THe opening guitar solo at the beginning is so scary yet Miami Vice sounding. To me this song is about living and witnessing a harsh life.

7.) Down in a Hole - Dirt- Another song that has so many meanings. The song sounds like a shout out to war veterans, but it's actually a song about addiction also. Popular opinion is that it's about heroin, but on the surface and first listen, it sounds like a song for war. It's not. It was written by Jerry Cantrell

6.) Dont Follow- Jar of Flies - This is a bittersweet sounding song about suicide. It took me a long time to realize the lyrics because the sound and hermonica made it sound like a backwoods like song, but it's legit a suicide send off.

5.) Nutshell- Jar of Flies- This is probably the first song i heard from AiC that made me a huge fan. I heard it on the Unplugged version and went back listening to everything they put out and realized I missed out on something special. This song is just about being a addict and wanting to die. Pretty simple.

4.) No Excuses- Jar of Flies - One of the bigger hits they had. Cantrell wrote it and it's rumored that he wrote it towards Layne's drug use.

3.) Rain When I Die- Dirt- This song slowly leads into a sick riff, then starts with Layne singing and then goes into this amazing Layne hook of " AND THEN SHE CALLS MY NAMMMMMMEEEEEE... I THINK IT"S GONNA RAINNNNNNNNNNN oHHHHHH WHEN I DIEEEEEEEAYAYAYAYAYAYA " . On certain days, this song is number 1 for me.

2.)Sludge Factory- Self Titled/ Unplugged- So many interpretations of this song. Layne wrote it. Some people think its about people telling Layne he's going to die. I dont know. It's good in regular version and even better in unplugged.

1.) Bleed The Freak - Live At Moore Theatre - The original version is on Facelift. But this version is my favorite AIC song of all time. There is a part of this song at ( 2:45 ) where this song gets so dark and echoish. It hits me hard. There is a ton of religious undertone in this song. It might be one of the deepest AIC songs ever. I think it's about people just not understanding or getting other people with major flaws, ultimately.

If you're getting into AIC late. I hope this provides you with a blueprint as to where to start.

It dont matter who did what to who at this point. The fact is, we went to war. And now there aint no going back. It's what war is you know? Once you're in it, you're in it. If it's a lie, then we fight on that lie, but we gotta fight!
