Friday Night Lights star Adrianne Palicki, whose Wonder Woman pilot was rejected by NBC, is joining the cast of G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes. Palicki will play Lady Jaye, a Bryn Mawr educated covert operations specialist. She joins a cast with a number of returnees from the 2009 G.I. Joe film including Channing Tatum (Duke), Ray Park (Snake Eyes), and Lee Byung-hun (Storm Shadow) as well as new additions, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who has signed on to play Roadblock, D.J. Cotrona, who will take on the role of the shotgun-wielding, beret-wearing Flint, Elodie Yung, who is playing the ninja-trained Jinx, and rapper/actor RZA, who will play a martial arts guru known as the Blind Master, who trained both Snake Eyes and Jinx.

Since Lady Jaye (real name Alison R. Hart-Burnett) is usually depicted with fairly short hair, will this mean that Palicki will have to trim her bountiful locks? We should know soon because Paramount is rushing the Jon M. Chu-directed G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes into production so that it can be ready to debut next summer and fill the void in the studio’s schedule left because the Star Trek sequel won’t be anywhere near ready for the tentpole season in 2012.

According to Deadline, the studio wants Bruce Willis to play the original G.I. Joe, Joe Colton in the movie, but no deal has been signed.
