Hm. I always took the term graphic novel generically to mean a collection of a serialized story (unless the story was written and released that way to begin with, which they sometimes are). I own the secret wars collection. Some might call that a compendium but as long as the entire narritive is bound together i wont object if you wanted to call it a novel as long as its complete.
