I don't believe this has anything to do with merging the fox universe into the mcu. Rather I think it's a set up for deadpool 3 and more specifically how he joins the mcu, which we've known for a a while they've planned on doing.

Monica's gotta get back somehow. Deadpool hitches a ride with her for whatever reason.
I definitely prefer your take and will bandwagon you in hopes of willing it into existence
