I've been watching the entire year of RAW replays. SSlam '97 with Austin getting his famous/infamous neck injury during his match with Owen seems to have really solidified him (if he wasn't already) as the #1 guy in fans' minds and really laid the groundwork for Austin and Vince's feud for much of the Attitude Era.

I'm at November 17, 1997 right now. Rock wants Austin's IC gold as of the week before and of course the Ottawa, Canada crowd was livid with nuclear heat on Shawn. Can't remember if an opponent for him and his WWF title were named for D-Generation X: In Your House or not.
