I personally believe it's easier (and this goes for any company) to have guys that are going to toe the line. If your head booking team was Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin, one would have to imagine it would be one hell of a clash of egos. But, I don't think it would hurt Vince to call Bret and ask him his take on a really intriguing IC title feud. Yeah, Bret's a bit out of touch, but surely you could take some of his ideas and mould them into a more modern form. Just makes sense to me.
Getting some ideas once in a while sounds like a great way to use past big stars but also run into the potential problem of Vince and his notorious habit of constantly changing plans.

Bret could suggest some really great ideas to fix the US and IC belts or make those feuds better but could be all for not if Vince suddenly decides he wants to go in a completely different direction making those ideas useless.

At least in podcast form, people like Stone Cold and JR have been giving out plenty of ideas and advice on ways the WWE could improve things, especially with Reigns, but doesn't seem like the WWE is listening.
