Was going to mention Bruno Sammartino but apparently he wrestled once in 2005 after retiring in the late 80s.

Pretty much a problem with wrestling, unlike in pro sports, is that you can still have a good to great career in your older years even as your skills diminish a lot. Same for there always being promoters around desperate to want any notable name to help sell their shows. Those two factors alone make it hard to stay retired unless you leave the industry like Bull Buchanan did or have to due to health reasons like Edge did.
