If you can get over the combat the story and characters will make a big impression. Side quests are all pieces of the bigger picture too, almost everything ties in. It's great / super depressing. I wasn't huge on the combat either tbh, but my chip set up in my first run sucked and then by the time I realised I need to fix it I was OP. Doesn't come close to dethroning Persona 5 but i'd comfortably put it as my #2 of 2017 (haven't played the Nintendo big boys yet but this is probably more my kind of game anyway).

The soundtrack is so good though, I can see why it got the nod over P5 in that department even though I prefer P5s music. Everything is so weird and alien, the overworld map theme evolves as you progress through the story to reflect the feeling of what's happening. It's really well put together. Also fucking weird.
