Lady Bird (2017) - 3/5

I had really high expectations due to all of the awards this movie was nominated for and I was disappointed in the end, mostly. The film is a simple story of a modern family from Sacremento trying to make it work. Dad and Mom have a 17 year old daughter and two adopted kids, money is tight, dad loses his job, the girl gets laid for the first time after she falls for the gay kid who has to act straight because they go to Catholic school. Anyway there were some amazing acting scenes throughout no doubt. Tracy Letts and Laurie Metcalf are always brilliant in everything they do and the lead actress playing Lady Bird also was brilliant I just couldn't help feel underwhelmed by the script. I guess considering Letts and Metcalf I was expecting some sort of dark twist in the tone of 3 Billboards. But it is great for what it is, I just wanted more.
