Meltzer is reporting that attendance for the Royal Rumble was about 40,000 with 32,000 paid, and not the 48,193 WWE is announcing. If that is the case, then there would have been about 8,500 empty seats, which might go someways to explaining why the stadium was darkened in spots.

By the way, Slik -- if the stadium was darkened obscuring the number of people, how can you tell the number of people? Doesn't that defeat the point of darkening it?
