Going by HBO's Andre doc, seems the only requirement is WWE has to be aware of the content of the episode or film before they approve footage requests.

A Benoit doc probably wouldn't be an issue considering WWE didn't have any issues with the upcoming Moolah one. Something like a Snuka doc focusing on his girlfriend's death could be out of the question since it might uncover new stuff about Vince's rumored involvement and open him up to potential legal issues.

Here's a couple of the episodes I was talking about. It's on Deathmatch Wrestling and the other one is on Wrestling in Northern Canadian Indian Reservations. Both are excellent. It's too bad Viceland Canada shutdown. This was an awesome series. I'll see if I can find the ones on the Exoticos in Mexico and Bolivian voodoo wrestling
