There was no SJW statement in Fighting Vipers. Progressive critics aren't even sure how to sell it since it's truly a mindfuck of sorts (/s). When San Junipero came out it was wall to wall praise as the LGBT Story Telling Champion of the year, but Fighting Vipers has merely a few 'analysis' write-ups and attempted hot takes. They don't know what to make of it because of the critical detail that the virtual element is presenting a straight relationship that was unambiguously rejected in real life by the men.
It's very interesting but hardly taken by storm on the SJW end. My fave episode, btw.
