Invasion itself was fine from what I can remember. It's the storyline as a whole that was botched. After WM X7 the product realllly started dipping but was still decent. But the Booker T vs. Buff Bagwell main event really got the shit ball rolling. Invasion and Summerslam were both good ppvs, but the RAWs in between weren't any good IIRC (minus a few shining moments) and then it was in free fall mode by Unforgiven.

Big problem was Steve Austin as a heel. I mean, fuck, he was an amazing heel and was still one of the best performers on the show but WWE's heart and soul was a babyface Stone Cold.
