I picked up Goon 2 for £3 yesterday. It is not the film that the first one was, that's for sure.
It made me think though. I suppose it's trying to do a semi serious take on the enforcer in hockey and they could hardly celebrate smashing heads now what with CTE issue becoming huge news. It was a weird mixture of violence and disapproval and honestly the plot was just so thin. I've seen films held together by less but they usually had a lot of great scenes to distract you from the plot development.
You can tell that Evan Goldberg wasn't involved in the writing this time. I would advise Jay Baruchel to find a creative writing partner if he wants to try directing another film.
