Triple H may have been more likely to smooth over the differences and ease tensions with Punk. But I think the issue with Punk is that he wants main event money and a main event spot that he very publicly never appreciated. I don’t know of a 5-time World Champion that has complained so much about a company giving him so little. Are you going to push that guy — who has never really drawn money and flopped in the UFC — ahead of cheaper, harder working, higher grossing talent with better attitudes?

It would take some concession on Punk’s part. Would he have been willing to come in, start at a certain position for a certain amount of money with growth over the later years of his contract? Maybe.
