The Great Sword is kinda the marquee weapon of the series but when you get started I recommend Sword & Shield. It feels closest to how this game looks like it's supposed to play so it's a good transition from other sword swinging games.

After that try whatever, but never judge too quickly. Once a weapon clicks, you'll wanna put a ring on it.
