Yes, I played multiplayer games since Quake 2 in 1998, back when there were no server browsers and I had to pull up a list of IP Adresses from Planetquake.com to join a game, until Gamespy came around. So, yeah, I've played probably years worth of Quake games. Quake 3 which later turned into Quake Live is probably the epitome of competetive arena based shooter. Even today, still being played as an esport, but has been overshadowed by Quake Champions,



I hope you are not trying to imply that Arena shooters dont require skill, because there is certainly a great amount of skill, in terms of reaction time, aim, map knowledge, timing of pickups etc, required to be competetive at these games.
