Psychologically horrifying. This is one of those films that pushes my thoughts into existential turmoil and give me a horrible lead-filled-butterflies-in-tumble-dryer feeling. That's what this film does to me. It does it in a good way though, as with lying down I know I can stand up again, I know that Solaris is only 94 minutes long.
Superb performances from the four main actors, Viola Davis in particular.
This is also one of George Clooney's most believable parts. He should play haunted characters more often, he's get an Oscar nod in an original performance like this nowadays.
