In their horrible attempt to “protect” both guys, they somehow managed to hurt both Seth and the Fiend.
The Fiend had ONE MATCH in his gimmick and that was all it took for them to decide to book him straight into the title picture. And not once did they consider that one of them would be expected to lose.

That's what happens when you have a company that doesn't book with any sort of long or even medium-term planning.
