WWE probably also figured with Paige coming back, it would be easier to keep tabs on her well-being since both them and her family didn't like the amount of time she was spending with El Patron/Del Rio.
WWE's biggest mistake was trying to force her away from Del Rio when the relationship was still relatively new which just ended up making her more committed to Del Rio instead.
