I would have to say, however, that if he did do it (I shudder and pray he didn't), the timeline of everything makes sense. The stories say his wife and son died on Saturday. Perhaps when he called the WWE about that family emergency, he was totally telling the truth, in some really twisted and morbid and sinister way.

And by Monday, after a couple of days of realizing what he had done and what he had thrown away, he might have killed himself too.



I really hope the two above paragraphs are false, but I think we can't help but contemplate that possibility now.

If it was a murder-suicide, though, there has to be a note somewhere...

Well... you can forget about ECW and SmackDown being tribute shows now, surely? There's no way WWE can plaster their TV shows with gushing tributes to a suspected murderer.

It will be a very tricky situation for them this week. I'm guessing we get "Best Of" shows for the rest of the week.

Well, I can't even think about it. I barely ate after it hit me right before dinner, and I think I'm gonna puke soon. I have a bad headache, and the thought of Benoit possibly doing it makes it worse.

Sometimes, when you snap, you snap. The human mind is a frightfully fascinating thing, capable of intense generosity and sinister malevolence. When people go crazy, they do things they would normally ever even ponder doing.

I don't know what else to do but to speculate, even though that might be considered disrespectful.

This is definitely a tragedy no matter how it turned out it happened. It'll be interesting to see how the public reaction goes from here on out. And if it does turn out to be a worst case scenario, I can't imagine how WWE public relations is going to begin to salvage that mess.

Think Heyman summed it up best. I have not watched wrestling since last august when I left for Brazil, but Benoit, the wrestler, the talent, was great and I will always remember being off my seat, up late, watching THAT Wrestlemania and the finish to that match.

If something sinister has happened, could be evil, lust, jealousy, or a mental imbalance, terrible accident, ANYTHING, we might never know motives or actual chains of events.

We do know who we watched for all those years though, and for that, we have to say thank you.

Yeah, exactly what I was thinking too. I really do hope they drop the Vince McMahon whodunnit (especially since that implies murder as well) storyline. They don't have to explain anything. Fans will understand. And it's not like they haven't dropped storylines for no reason before.

One thing I read was this...

The Cause might be a gas leak....Benoits wife and son became sick from the gas leak, causing him to come home. While he was home trying to take care of them the gas leak ends up getting all 3.

It is really a horror trying to put it through my head that Benoit would do it. Its been noted that they didnt have any stab or bullet wounds so it cant possibly be that. The only thing that hasnt been said was if there was any bruises or anything from possibly a beating.

Im afraid that I probably wont be able to stomach the news that is coming in the next couple of days.

Of course his friends and co-workers are going to say he was a great guy and a family man after he died, I'm sure Hitler's buddies said that after his death too. For all we know Benoit was a psycho.

Exactly, all you've seen him is in the ring. You don't know shit about what kind of person he is. That's why all these posts like "I refuse to believe Chris would do that" are ridiculous. Chris Benoit, the wrestler, was one of my favorites too. Chris Benoit, the person, I cannot vouch for--neither can any of you. But if it's true that he murdered his wife and 7-year-old son, then fuck him.

It's like saying there's no way Michael Richards could be a racist because Kramer had black friends.

I dont think its really along the lines of us really thinking he couldnt do it...Because hell...anyone can kill anyone...

Its more along the lines of that we dont really want it to end up that he did it. We all dont want to believe that the guy we have looked up to in the ring week after week could do such a horrible I thing.

it is so odd.

If he killed his son the next day (Sunday) after killing Nancy Saturday, it kind of rules out the Temporary Insanity thing, and makes it more motivated.

He calls into work and doesnt show after committing murders, that does make sense though.

After several days of thinking about what he hsa done and what is ahead of himself, he Kills himself. That makes sense.

But I want to know more facts about the events leading to the Sunday call. Everything makes sense after the murders, nothing before it. He is not some crazy killer that would plan this, but who snaps for 2 days then comes out of it. I dont get it

I think the current theory is that he killed his wife and son both on Saturday.

That'd make for some sadistic irony to the report that he called WWE and said Daniel and Nancy were "coughing up blood."

absolutely, it could have been Nancy, it could have been someone else - we aren't psychic's here. Although reports lean toward Benoit killing the family (primary suspect) which I imagine causes people to believe he was the killer, which might be true.



I remember my fav wrestlemania moment (Benoit winning the world championship), I guess it's best to think of the good right now, the happy memories.

Even if it comes out to Murder/Suicide, like that asshole The Miz said, we didn't know Chris Benoit the person. We only knew Chris Benoit the performer. So you can't hate him for killing his wife and kid, IF he did that, because you don't know what he had going for or against him. I had a friend who killed his dad under the influence of Prozac. Do I hate him? No.

Don't believe the gas leak stuff at all. Chris killed his family. That's the most logical scenario at this point. No one wants to believe that, but not wanting to believe something doesn't make it untrue.
