The Fabulous Ones Appreciation Thread
They were the first "funloving pretty boys" of pro wrestling. The Fabulous Ones comprised of Steve Keirn and Stan Lane. Formed in 1982 in the Memphis, Tennesee-based Continental Wrestling Association, The Fabulous Ones were managed by Jackie Fargo. In the five years together as a team, they feuded with the likes of The Road Warriors, The Sheepherders, The Grapplers, and the PYT Express. They originally broke up in 1987, when Lane joined the Midnight Express, replacing Dennis Condrey as Bobby Eaton's tag team partner, while Keirn returned to Florida to run a wrestling school, where he trained the likes of Mike Awesome, Dennis Knight, Diamond Dallas Page, and Dustin Rhodes.
In late 1990 after leaving World Championship Wrestling, Stan Lane reformed the Fabulous Ones with Steve Keirn, this time bringing his manager Jim Cornette with them, in their return to the Memphis territory, which by now went by the name United States Wrestling Association. The reunion was brief, as Cornette and Lane left to form Smoky Mountain Wrestling, while Keirn left to join the World Wrestling Federation. They reunited again in 1995 for a tag team tournament, in which they won, and finally in 1999, wrestling Jerry Lawler and Bill Dundee. Steve Keirn retired in 2001, after wrestling a tour in New Japan Pro Wrestling, while Stan Lane is considered semi-retired since 1993. Here's a few classic music videos... And a rare talk show appearance... |
