Too many Multiple time Champions in the E

So the one thing that bugs me the most about the PG Era is that now we have multiple guys having multiple reigns as the WWE Champion &/or the World Heavyweight Champion.

For instance, John Cena. Cena has come a long way since the Super Cena era and now he has had 6 reigns as the WWE Champion and 2 reigns as the World Heavyweight Champion. That makes him an 8 time Champion! And taking into consideration the fact that he is 32 years old, he has a big time chance to break "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair's record of 16 major World Heavyweight title reigns (21*).

I understand that records are meant to be broken but a street brawler like Cena really?

With two "major" titles in one company it's bound to happen. There is no longer one top dog (title-wise).

Actually they handled it pretty well back when the brand expansion thing started. The Smackdown superstars (For e.g. Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, Big Show, the Undertaker etc.) used to run after the WWE title. Whereas the superstars on Raw (For e.g. Triple-H, Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels, Booker-T, RVD etc.) used to run after the Big Gold belt. They weren't poking their noses up the other brand's title belt.

Side Note: Once again, just like last year, Smackdown has two Champions before Mania.

Eh, times have really changed. WWE has 2 "world" titles floating around and with that, they don't have to worry about 1 Champion "drawing" and representing the entire company all at once.

For example, they can afford to do a trial run with someone like Sheamus, because he's not the only Champion that they have to represent the company (as Taker was the other Champ).

What they really have to do is combine the top titles back into the Undisputed championship, make it cross-brand and make the US and IC titles the top brand-specific titles.

Yeah.

Hell, maybe to make up for it and bring back the TV Title. Something for the other guys to do.

That could actually work. I mean look at the Tag Team Champions nowadays and look at the Tag Team Champions before the unification of them belts.

I suppose the big problem with that is that guys like Hunter would bitch and moan about holding a second-tier title, despite it being the top for that brand.

Realistically, WWE has way too many top-tier talent that they don't really cycle out. And fighting for one title isn't enough. The IC/US idea would work as long as egos don't get in the way to allow the titles to re-build up to their former glory.

Hmmm...you have to give the man credit. I can't see him with the Intercontinental strap after he has had 13 reigns as champion (Completely ignores Ric Flair )

This idea could actually benefit talents like Shelton Benjamin, Swagger, Carlito or Matt Hardy in that case.

At the very least, I'd like to see a TV title that is only defended on TV, never PPV, and is cross brand. Maybe require it to be defended every two weeks. That would help midcarders get over with a larger audience.

Cena, Batista, Edge, Orton, HHH, Shawn, Taker, CM Punk, Jericho, Rey, Big Show, Khali, Kane

This list will dwindle soon. I would predict Shawn, Taker, Kane and Khali all being gone within the next year and a half.
How many new champions will be made within the next year and a half? I doubt 4.

There still needs to be a balance between long reigns and the back-and-forth reigns. Last time short reigns worked out the best between 2 wrestlers would probably have been the 3 months where The Rock and Mankind switched off as champion since the feud itself was entertaining and brutal to show how determined and equal both wrestlers were to win.

This seems to be more of a RAW than Smackdown problem mostly because of how many "star" main events the show has while they keep neglecting the US title/Intercontinental title as a respectable 2nd tier title for most of those "star" wrestlers.

Instead of making Cena vs Batista as a regular match, they gave Cena the title at Elimination Chamber but he drops it within minutes with Batista's title shot out of no where. All it ended up doing was padding the title stat for Cena and giving Batista a title reign which made the whole Chamber match useless.

Cena's World Heavyweight Title win at WrestleMania XXV was predictable, but in the scheme of things, just a number, as well. You can probably find a lot of Cena's reigns were really just given to him to boost his numbers. The same goes for Batista's last WWE Championship reign, and probably some of Randy Orton's.

As of now, it is easy to predict that the winner of the WWE Championship match at Wrestlemania will be
SPOILER: show
John Cena

Let us rewind a little bit...
1. Batista eliminates Cena to win the 2005 Royal Rumble.
2. World Tag Team Champions Shawn Michaels & WWE Champion John Cena defeated World Heavyweight Champion Batista and the Undertaker in an inter promotional non title tag team match at No Way Out when Cena pinned Taker after the FU.
3. World Heavyweight Champion Batista and the Undertaker defeated World Tag Team Champions Shawn Michaels and WWE Champion John Cena in an inter promotional non title tag team match on Raw (March 26, 2007) when Batista pinned Cena.
4. Batista pinned John Cena in an inter promotional match at Summerslam.
5. Batista pinned WWE Champion John Cena in an inter promotional title match at WWE Elimination Chamber 2010 after the Batista Bomb in order to become the new WWE Champion.
6. John Cena defeated WWE Champion Batista via dq on Raw in order to earn a shot at the WWE title at WM XXVI
So my math says that Cena has never pinned Batista (in the WWE) and hence he will definitely win the belt at WM XXVII and become a 9 time Champion.

John Cena being the babyface chasing the WWE Title heading into WrestleMania is also a big clue.
