Does it have something to do with the connection to your computer, or the speakers? Try different speakers and see if you experience the same thing.

on-board sound, or aftermarket sound card? And what is your sound card?
What operating system are you running? |

Have you tried using an older version of the drivers? Try finding that and try it first.
If that doesn't solve the problem, then it could just be an issue with the on-board sound going out slowly, or it could also be a compatibility issue. I have an aftermarket that I don't use, because it has problems with the way Windows handles drivers. Works amazingly in Ubuntu, but crackles to no end in Windows, regardless of if I use its own drivers, or alternate open source drivers. |

A number of owners of X-Fi cards have come to experience what is known as a constant popping and crackling noise during use of the cards. Creative has attributed the case to be NVIDIA nForce motherboards, however many other users who do not use these motherboards continue to experience the sound issues. Creative has not provided a fix as of yet for this. Nevertheless there are unofficial recommendations how to solve these issues:

I should mention, Sound Blaster drivers are probably the issue, as the aftermarket card I have that did this was also a Sound Blaster.
They suck at creating drivers. You're better off just buying a new (different brand) of sound card, if you want the best experience. Or run Ubuntu. |
