Biggest "OOPS" in the wrestling industry

See how this goes. Quite simple, mention choices or decisions made (or not made) that in your opinion were not the right ones or the ones that should of been made.

1. WCW waiting until December 15, 1997 to debut Bret Hart.

2. Sting never giving WWE a chance.

3. Bret Hart leaving WWE, you had to be a complete idiot to not be able to see how much money was to be made off of Michaels vs Hart, Austin vs Hart, etc. I say this because his main reasoning for leaving was clearly the big money contracts WCW was offering.

This is a start, see if this takes off.

So it wasn't up the next night? Isn't that why Vince didn't let him go to Raw to forfeit the title? Because he would no longer be under contract with WWE as of midnight Monday?

No. He had a few weeks left on the contract.

Vince wanted him to drop the belt because he wanted him to drop the belt then and there.

Vince not keeping WCW. He could of pitched it and got another network deal. I mean even should of let Shane run it and compete against eachother, and WrestleMANIA could of been the BIG SHOW for real!

Goldberg was under contract with Time Warner. They couldn't bring him in unless they bought out his huge contract.

Yeah, when WWE bought out WCW, all the wrestlers had two choices, re-do their entire contracts and officially sign new contracts with WWE for a lot less money, or sit at home for a year or two and continue making the rest of the money as if WCW never went under.

Though it might not be a big huge mistake like Goldberg "breaking kayfabe" and walking out of that triple threat match near WCW's end, I want to take this opportunity to say that the reappearance of Kane's "masked self" and the feud's culmination with Kane simply throwing the doppelganger out the door was very terrible.

I know what you mean. See, one of my big issues is that almost all of today's wrestlers are around my age, or younger. When I was a kid, I saw the wrestlers as men, and they were like gods to me. I looked at them with much awe and respect, and there was such a mystery to them.

.....Now that I'm 27, and all grown up, it's not the same. I can't get into cheering/booing dudes that are like my peers the same way I cheered/booed for the wrestlers who were old enough to be my Dad growing up. That's why I am a mark for the old-school wrestlers today by the way and why I am very happy that they are still around. They make me feel young. But I know they cannot wrestle forever, and I also know that overall it's the young guys that are on TV more then anyone for the most part.

Anyhow, I pretty much knew as a teen that this would happen one day. Once I turned 20, that's when these feelings and thoughts began, and it's just gotten worst as I've aged.

The Shockmaster came to mind straight away. On a grander stage, though, I am thinking about Hulk Hogan defending the WCW Championship against Sting in 1997, and how the whole "slow count" business was complete rubbish. If there was a match that called for a straight-forward face victory, it was that one.

Stone Cold Steve Austin, while his heel turn at WrestleMania X-7 was incredible, lacked any sort of really built-up face challengers right after his heel turn. While I think the heel turn itself was awesome, it did mark the end of the Attitude era. It would have been perfect for someone to step up and make it their own era, but it just didn't happen. Oops.

Triple H, in my opinion, would have been perfect. The crowd was rabid for it the night after Mania, if I recall. He confronted Vince McMahon, and asked why he was not informed about that deal he made, and Vince sort of passed Triple H over. When The Game came out with the sledgehammer, people wanted to see him crush his enemy's skull. It didn't happen, though. A lot of people loved the Two-Man Power Trip, I know, and they explained it as best they could, but Triple H challenging for the WWE Title would have made a hot story at that point in time.

Yeah I never said he didn't. My point is Bret Hart's greed and stupidity. If Bret would of just stuck it out and stop being so damn greedy, him and Shawn could had a hell of a 1998 after Bret dropped the belt to Austin at WM 14. And they could of ended the on the biggest stage of them all, WM 15 HBK vs Bret! I mean marketing, marchandise money, and plus he would of maybe even had a longer career, because he would of never fought One-Hold-Berg.

...Eric Bischoff firing Steve Austin from WCW.

Goes to show that Eric Bischoff was good at working with established guys...not so much in seeing potential and making stars.
