Shelton is the better athlete and a more exciting performer no doubt, but I've been more entertained by Goldust overall. Shelton was quite bad on the mic, he got a good bit of promo time in his final run on ECW (specifically the Sheamus and Christian feuds) and was stuttering, forgetting his lines and blowing delivery all over the place.

Shelton could do some things in the ring that Goldust couldn't, but that's not really what these have ever been about.
Goldust's character has had some great moments.

For every, "Shelton could have been huge" statement, I think you can also make similar claims for Goldust. That character could have easily been pushed in bigger and better directions.

So where Goldust can't springboard from the top rope into sweet chin music or a ladder, he does have/had the ability to interest me more in stories and overall.

Went with Goldust since while Shelton was more athletic, Goldust had the better ability with characters, promos, and overall entertainment.

Neither wrestler went to main event type of a wrestler but Goldust was more consistent as a wrestler than Shelton. In terms of tag team wrestling, I liked Shelton more since he fit great with Haas and then Angle as a group better than Goldust as only a comedic character with Booker T.

If I had noticed and gotten the chance to vote, I would have gone with Shelton.

Yes, Goldust is better on the mic, had way more ability to not only play a character but give it depth and purpose, but I personally think Shelton could wrestle circles around Goldust.

Not that Goldy is bad, by any mean. Given his frame and look, he moves and performs head and shoulder above what you'd expect upon first sight.
