If, say, Yoshi Tatsu kicked the bucket...
How do you think the WWE would handle his death? For guys like Eddie, Owen, etc, the WWE did pretty much a whole tribute show dedicated to these guys...but they're also wrestlers with long histories, plenty of things to talk about, etc.

If a guy like Tatsu or Reks passed away while under contract, what do you think the WWE would do? A whole tribute show? Something "dedicated" to them?

Morbid topic, I know. Just been watching some old Eddie Guerrero videos and it got me wondering.

Vince would probably announce it on air before the show, say something about the wrestler who has passed away, and then we'd get a tribute card on screen and that would be it.

Probably just a mention from Vince at the start of the show and each match will be "dedicated" to them, but not in any official tribute show. Just a mention from the commentators every so often and maybe the wrestlers would point up to the heavens after they win.

But I doubt there would be any video packages of wrestlers talking about them or such.

Secondary question: If a guy like Stone Cold lives until the ripe old age of 85 and passes, do they run a tribute package for him when he dies, or does he just get a quick mention from Josh Matthews Jr. at 10:15?

WWE is very standoffish when it comes to this stuff because of Benoit. If they went in, say, a car accident, it'd definitely open with Vince announcing it similarly to Pillman. But other than that, MAYBE a tribute video and wrestlers mentioning it in promos before or after their match.

I think someone like Austin or Hogan would get an all-out tribute show from WWE. Again, depending on the circumstances.

I've said this in another thread a while ago, but the fact is that Austin or Hogan would likely pull ratings for WWE. I know it sounds cold, but WWE is a business and doing that type of show would be good business.

Assuming the show is still running in a similar fashion, the would probably show a package of his greatest moments and accomplishments. But they wouldn't be able to have any "dream matches" between any of his good friends or "foes" because I'd assume they'd all be dead or on their way out too.

Hogan would probably still wrestle though.

But would Austin pull ratings when his target fanbase is now in their 70s? If the WWE was still in business, those who remember Austin would be in the minority, same thing as if Hogan passes 20 years from now. He's a legend, but maybe not a marketable one anymore.

I think the new generation of kids who'd be watching at the time (ie. year 2030) would know who Steve Austin was due to his legendary status. Especially if WWE kept running those quick 15 second "Another Great WrestleMania Moment" (brought to you by Sour Skittles) every year.

It's like for me if Andre The Giant was still alive today and died tomorrow. I never got to see him wrestle, but I know who he is and what he's all about.

Austin and Hogan would definitely get a tribute show, because of who they are, regardless of how they died (unless of course they pulled a Chris Benoit)

If Yoshi Tatsu died, he'd get the memorial flash on the screen before RAW airs, but I don't think he'd get an epic tribute show. Maybe a bunch of short promo/skits throughout the show, especially if he died while still under contract.

When Test died, what kind of tribute did he get? Was he under WWE contact at the time? I'm guessing all he got was the standard RIP flash on the screen right before RAW aired?

He got the standard 'in memory of' image. He wasn't under contract at the time, and he may even have been under contract to TNA. Not quite sure, but he did wrestle some matches in TNA before his death.

Vince should run a tribute show as if hogan had died. ratings go up and it shows hogan and tna people care more about him dead than they do now still trying to be in the spotlight. a dead hogan has a higher rating than the living version brother

I've been meaning to post a thread about this for ages, but never got around to it. Except my example wrestler would have been Chavo Guerrero. Chavo's been around a long time, and has been in the WWE for a solid ten years, but isn't really a 'big enough name' that I could imagine WWE doing a Raw is Chavo.

Most likely just the pre-show image tribute the WWE does for the majority of wrestlers that pass away and a short news piece on their website.

I doubt they will do tribute shows anymore unless its a mega-mainstream name and they can confirm it was not due to drugs/criminal event to prevent the negative backlash.

I'm pretty sure he'd just get the message from Vince, the picture card, and probably a 10 bell salute with people on stage at best. That's what Pillman got.
