how come there's no ROH talk? I mean there's a new freaking champ!

Austin Aries beats Joe after a huge 21 month reign as champ and there's not a dam thing on these boards!

I heard that Joe wants out of ROH and wants to get on TNA and Foley has been pushing him to get with the WWE.

Also at the next ROH it's going to be Foley Vs Joe!!!

Are you sure Joe wants to get with TNA? ROH fans will commit suicide if that happen. ROH already hates TNA because of the Styles and Daniels situation. The only reason why Joe would consider WWE is because of the money. If Joe went to the WWE, he would be wrestling Spike on Velocity.

I'm only going off the rumors i've heard.

And AJ is working some ROH dates again now since the whole RF thing has died down and ROH have distanced themselves for well over a year now.

Chances are Chris Daniels will be working again soon

I don't think Joe would work in WWE, he just doesn't have "the look"

If he went to TNA maybe he could de-throne "TNA's HHH" Jeff Jarret (Although I couldn't see it as we are getting no more new TNA in UK I think)

Sorry for the late reply

I read that on another message board, it said something like TNA will not be showing any more new shows in UK due to contract negotiations.

If you have watched TWC recently they have been repeating the AJ Styles vs Jeff Hardy show for the past few weeks

Wasn't that the match where the ROH crowd were totally ripping into Hardy. Chanting stuff like we want Matt.

As for ROH I watched a bit of it on TWC and while I have enjoyed a couple of matches (Williams vs Daniels, Styles vs Low Ki vs London and I think The Briscoe Brothers vs Amazing Red and Styles), I just cannot get to interested in them. There are no doubt great wrestlers on their shows. I just couldn't get really interested in it.

I couldn't believe Aries beat Joe, considering Joe's reign makes HHH's look like Bob Backlund's 2nd reign.

The Foley-Steamboat confrontations also have added a lot to ROH

ROH is not for everybody though. I respect ROH wrestlers talent but I don't care about their wrestlers at all. Samoe Joe and Low-Ki is probably their only wrestlers who I would watch on a weekly basis. You have to be a hardcore SMARK to enjoy ROH on a weekly basis. If ROH had a tv show in the US, I probably wouldn't watch it that much like ECW on TNN.

You have to be a fan of wrestling to enjoy ROH.

As ROH is the closest thing to wrestling getting shown nowdays

A lot of the wretlers have no pacing whatsoever in their matches though. It just goes from spot to spot. Very little storytelling. There are exceptions, but most of the roster puts on spotfests. Some people like that kind of wrestling. I watch it just because they can do some amazing things, but I just can't compare most ring of honor match to some of WWE's greatest matches.

Have you watched any ROH past 2002? In the beginning they were very sport oriented. Things have changed A LOT since 2002 and now the majority of the matches put an emphasis on storytelling. I would put Joe vs Punk up against a lot of WWE's greatest matches.

I was kind of mixed on Aries winning the title. I mean he really wasn't as deserving as say Homicide, Punk or Danielson. But when I look back at Samoa Joe when he first won the title and he was a nobody... and now look at him. I think Aries winning the title will get him over huge. Plus he is amazing in the ring.

You really have no clue about Ring of Honor. There is maybe one spotty match per card these days and 99% of the rest of the card is better than the horseshit you see on Mondays and Thursdays.

But of course, you'd have to be a fan or really interested in the first place, and without more public exposure, that doesn't really happen.

So yeah, it's more of a hardcore fan's fed.

Suffice to say, I don't follow up on it at all.

Sorry but I never got that much behind Joe. I am a fairly big fan of them, and I certainly respect their work, but for the most part, I tend to agree that truly great wrestling isn't happening in ROH. Alot of great matches, but the moves are only half the battle (and in today's world probably less). There just isn't a way to get ROH over because they don't have the ability to reach large audiences and have solid flowing storylines. Even though I get most of their DVDs there isn't a chance to make a great feud because there isn't enough build up. The fact remains, TNA just went from what I would call an "Indie" Fed to a National Fed. ROH still has a long ways to go.

Here's hoping they can make it to that point some day...but don't hold your breath.

CyNick and myself just spent too much time arguing about ROH for past few days to continue here. I can say maybe it wasn't mentioned though because ROH is minor league. There is room for it and it's great people have something else to watch. It's still the minors though.

And Mick Foley isn't signed to wrestle in any ROH match and probably won't so don't post fake news.

yeah, I ran into some of those idiots in the BTR chatroom during the show. ROH came up and well....let's just say some of those guys probably still believe ECW is alive and well.

And I love the guys on there who think the WWE should hire them as bookers.

First of all I like Aries as the champion. It continues the ROH tradition of using the title to build guys instead of it going to an all ready over worker like say CM Punk or Homicide.

As for where ROH is situated in the grand scheme of things, I dont even consider them a national fed yet. They have a fan base and a little name recognition in the wrestling world but until they pick up a T.V. slot of some kind they can not be regarded as a national fed. However I do think ROH is going the right way about building up as they are not overstepping there boundarys so they probably have more of a future than TNA.

As for Joe my bet would be on him ending up in NJPW and still working ROH when available, I would say WWE is a very slim chance and TNA probably even less of a chance right now.

What is ROH's financial status? I have never really heard of anything.

I know TNA is in the HOLE.
WWE is still making millions but their profits have decreased a fair bit.

First and foremost, very happy for Austin Aries. Hell of a worker, and is one of the more talented indy guys out there. Though, as was said, I would have prefered Danielson to get the title.

Also, I agree with the earlier post that said ROH uses their world title to build up guys, as opposed to giving it to over guys. It's a bit of a double edged sword depending on how long they let someone held the belt though. It's a great thing for Austin, Joe held the belt for quite some time and had a very credible reign, now there's a problem though. Austin can't have the same style reign or the fans will tire of him, at the same time if he drops the belt too soon, it loses credibility. It'll be interesting to see how they have his reign run it's course.

Finacially, as I understand it ROH doesn't make any money of the shows themselves, they have to fall back on DVD and Tape sales to make up the profit margins. But the crowds are getting bigger for ROH so maybe that's starting to edge of, I think they have had a few crowds over a thousand in the last year.

I would asume that they make money or at least break even as I don't think they would of survived for as long as they could given there size

Well seeing as they dont seem to have any huge financial backer its probably a safe thought that they must at least break even somewhere. But as has been said they have quite a cult following both at there shows and on DVD and video, I would imagine that there DVDS and videos make a lot more than there shows because the demand for them seems very high and a lot of guys just endlessly pimp them on quite a few boards all over the net.

Well, that's the only time I've seen a Styles Clash that looked like it hurt. And that was pretty sick.
