Summer of 98: WCW

Playing WCW vs nWo Revenge made me realise how great WCW was in the summer of 1998. I mean the nWo finally had some competition that wasn't just Sting. I'm talking about the Wolfpac. Holy crap did I ever get excited when Sting joined. That's up there in my favorite moments in wrestling. EVERYONE loved the Wolfpac.

You had Goldberg going strong and beating Hogan for the belt. The crowd was freakign nutso that match. He defended it against Sting in a great match. Sting was about to win, but Hogan kicked him in the head causing Goldberg to get the Jackhammer. I was upset that Sting lost, but at least you can say "He should have won that match".

Cruserweights were still getting good matches out.

Sting vs Giant, as the tag champs, facing each other at GAB to see who gets to keep the belts. And that match was the main event of the PPV, rather than being the third match. That's what the WWE would do now.

Oh and the Raven/Kanyon/Saturn feud was pretty sweet. Some great matches.

Post your favorite WCW summer of 1998 memories.

The Jericho vs Juventud match was great at Road Wild. Seeing Chavo go insane was funny as was watching him shave his own head during that hair vs. hair match with Eddie. Speaking of Bash At The Beach, any match that Kidman and Juventud would put on during that time would be great, so I lived their series of matches as well. Booker T's best of 7 series with Benoit and finally reclaiming the TV Title from Finley. Good times good times...

The Flock. Chris Jericho. Juvi Guerrera.

The only three entertaining things about WCW post 1997...

On a side note, the Wolfpac was a freakin' joke. Anything nWo after Giant joined was just blah.

I went the Great American Bash that year in Baltimore(Maryland)as well as a Nitro in Orlando(Florida). The GAB was AWESOME.
On a side note I can be seen on the GAB tape sitting on the first level of elevated seats(about 11 rows back). You can also see me on the Chris Beniot DVD during his match vs Booker T at the GAB.

Most things in WCW that year was pretty decent. Most of the wrestling boom was during that time...and then Russo joined WCW.

the coolest thing about wcw was the "never gonna know whats gonna happen"! and it was the truth! they ended EVERY show with your jaw on the floor! once brett came in, that put the company top heavy waaaay too much. too many superstars CAN be a bad thing. Michael Buffer, the Nitro girls, it was just fun. while it lasted. then enter Vince Russo

Yeah I was a big fan during that summer.

I'll never forget the feud between Eddie and Chavo where Chavo had to parade around with that wooden horse all the time.
